Dear WHS students and families,As we continue to navigate this fluid and ever-changing time, it is important we regularly reflect on our practices to ensure we are continuously providing optimal educational experiences to our students. In assessing when asynchronous work is posted, our teachers have quickly come to realize that the work posted on Monday mornings is not always perfectly aligned with where synchronous classes are at by the end of the week. Although the original intent of posting all asynchronous work every Monday was to allow as much flexibility as possible for students, teachers have identified the ability to adjust their instruction midweek as a vital need with regard to providing robust synchronous sessions that align with the day's asynchronous work. In order to adjust to this identified instructional concern, teachers now have the following two options when posting weekly asynchronous work (Teachers will communicate to their students which option they have chosen for posting their asynchronous materials):
We clearly recognize the importance of daily and weekly consistency for our students and do not take making this change to routine lightly when we are several weeks into the school year. However, in the physical classroom, teachers are encouraged to implement best practices that include daily assessments (formative and summative) of student learning and then make adjustments accordingly for the next day's class; this adjustment to when asynchronous work is posted will provide teachers with a similar opportunity in the remote learning environment that they have in the physical classroom.Thank you for your continued support as we work to refine our online instructional practices. - Continue to post all weekly asynchronous materials on Monday at 8:00 AM
- Post asynchronous work two times per week (Monday at 8:00 AM for Monday - Wednesday asynchronous work; Thursday at 8:00 AM for Thursday - Friday asynchronous work).
TEACHER/STUDENT SUPPORT SESSIONS
- Students may attend teacher scheduled support sessions beginning September 14
- Students will be able to sign up for 15-minute blocks of time with a teacher. Each teacher will have three spots available per 15-minute block.
- Teachers will communicate with their students as to how the meeting will take place.
- Sign-ups will go live on Monday morning each week, and students will be able to make appointments for Tuesday and Thursday of that week only. The following Monday, a new sign up will go live for that week’s appointments, etc.
- Sign up for teacher support sessions can be made at myconferencetime.com starting the Monday of each week at 6 A.M. (beginning September 14th). Sign up will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
