The WHS Counseling Office
Hi seniors and families,Seniors, thank you for taking the time to vote for the commencement ceremony option you prefer. The overwhelming majority of students (77.8%) voted for an in-person ceremony in July (see the screenshot of survey results attached). Therefore, we will plan for a commencement ceremony on the WHS football field on Wednesday, July 15 at 7:00 PM (rain make-up date will be Thursday, July 16 at 7:00 PM). A weekday was selected for the ceremony to avoid weekends and the potential for people to be out of town. Additionally, the ceremony will take place in the evening to accommodate those who might be working during the day and to avoid the midday heat.As a reminder, and as was explained in the survey, this event taking place will be completely dependent on whether or not government orders/social distancing guidelines in place on the day of the ceremony allow for such a gathering. As we plan for this event, specific details will be emailed home to seniors and their families. We look forward to seeing you walk across the stage in July!Take care,
Dear seniors and families,As we continue to live through this challenging time, it saddens me that more bad news has to be delivered to our seniors and their families. We have been informed by MSU’s President and Provost's Office that there can be no large gatherings at MSU in May as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the WHS commencement ceremony scheduled for Sunday, May 31 at The Wharton Center has been cancelled. As we move forward, every attempt will be made to hold a graduation ceremony for our seniors. We will continue to monitor government recommendations/orders and will make every attempt to hold a graduation ceremony later in the spring or summer.I hope you and your families are safe and healthy. If I, or any of the WHS staff, can do anything to support you at this time, please do not hesitate to let me know.Take care,Steve Delp
