Students Selected as Finalists for Young Playwrights Festival
Two Williamston High School students were chosen as finalists for the 10th Annual Young Playwrights Festival. The event took place in Traverse City and featured staged readings of the plays submitted by the students. Learn more about the students and the event by selecting the link.
AP English Lit students, Eva (a WHS junior) Caleb (a WHS senior), were both named finalists. High school students submitted original one-act plays for consideration this past fall. Finalists were paired with national theater mentors, won $100, and prepared for their plays to be performed at the City Opera House.
Due to COVID restrictions, staged readings of each play were recorded (with video intros from the playwrights) on the City Opera House YouTube channel. Playwrights, mentors, directors, and actors participated in a Zoom talkback after the plays were performed.
Congratulations to Eva and Caleb on this outstanding accomplishment!
