All District Buildings Recertify as MI Heart Safe Schools
All Williamston schools have been recertified by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) as MI Heart Safe Schools. The designation requires buildings to have rehearsed cardiac response plans, trained staff members, and sufficient external defibrillators (AEDs) among other requirements.
Each year all district schools run announced or unannounced cardiac response drills to assess the readiness of cardiac response teams. The training includes the use of CPR and AEDs by members of a school's trained staff. The new MI Heart Safe School certification will run through 2023.
